Genetics GIDP Seminar Series
"Recent Advances in Genetics"
(GENE 670)

Attendance is open to any member of the community

 

The Genetics GIDP Seminar Series (offered for course credit as GENE 670, Recent Advances in Genetics) is offered each semester that its content is not covered by another course.

In Spring 2008, Dr. Donata Vercelli debuted a new course entitled "Problems in the Biology of Complex Diseases" (CBA/MCB/GENE 595H) which featured guest speakers Dr. Carole Ober, University of Chicago; Dr. Michael Skinner, Washington State University; Dr. Dennis Kasper, Harvard University; and Dr. Karen Guillemin, University of Oregon.

Other courses that may be offered in lieu of Seminar include GENE 695D, Human Genetic Disease Colloquium, or GENE 533, Human Genetics.

The August 2009 issue of PLoS Genetics features a cover image illustrating the article by Genetics faculty members Ravi Palanivelu and David Mount.

Felicia Goodrum was the only professor in Arizona honored with the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. Goodrum, who works in the departments of immunobiology and molecular and cellular biology and is a member of the Genetics GIDP faculty, BIO5 Institute and Arizona Cancer Center, studies the human cytomegalovirus, or HGMV.
